Effective Temperature	A measure of the energy output of an object, such as a star, defined as the temperature of a black body having the same total luminosity as the observed object. Effective temperature is often quoted as one of the physical characteristics of a star. Since the spectrum of a normal star is similar to that of a black body, effective temperature is a good indication of the actual temperature of its photosphere.
