Max-Planck-Institut FüR Radioastron
A German institute for research in radio astronomy which has its headquarters in Bonn and an observing station at Effelsberg, 40 kilometres 25 miles to the south-west of Bonn. The observatory operates a 100-metre 328-foot, fully steerable radio dish on a computer-controlled altazimuth mounting, which was opened in 1971.
