A team of Spitzer Space Telescope astronomers have found that a brown dwarf star, OTS 44, is surrounded by a dust-rich cloud that appears still in the early stages of planet formation. OTS 44 is about 500 light-years way and has a mass of about 15 Jupiters. It is believed to have enough material to make one gas-giant planet and a handful of Earth-sized ones.
