The concentration of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is now higher than it has ever been in at least 650,000 years.

Levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere are now 387 parts per million, according to measurements by scientists at the Mauna Loa Observatory in Hawaii. The US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration says that this is a record.
