As well as carrying food and water to the International Space Station, the Russian Progress spacecraft carried cameras and lenses for NASA that will be used to make close inspections of the space shuttle hull in accordance with new safety procedures the hard-working Russian craft also delivered a European communications system that will be used in the docking system for the Automated Transfer Vehicle, or ATV, set to begin work toward the end of 2005.
