The students worked with Daniele Bedini, an expert in space architecture, to develop plans for a hotel that could exist in zero gravity. Bedini has worked for NASA and the European Space Agency. They designed sleeping bags with soft elastic covers so that guests could be restrained in zero gravity without feeling claustrophobic. The students developed a computer that serves food. You tell it what you want to eat, and it produces your "meal" in the form of rows of small cubes. For dealing with personal hygiene issues, they designed a shower nozzle that emits water when it is place it against your skin and then draws it back up again when you are done washing. This way, globules of water are not left to float through the air. The shower handle contains space for bars of shampoo. A small toilet, which relies on suction power, saves space. The students designed clothing that is made with natural fibers that enable the skin to breathe and has small chest flaps to allow air in. This reduces sweating and therefore, the need for clothing to be washed, an important consideration in space, where there are no washing machines. They also developed a floating camera that follows the space tourist and allows them to keep a record of their trip. You can listen to the students discussing their hotel in this video.
